چکیده

We present in this paper a formal framework for argumentationbased dialogues between agents. These latter manage the dialogues with the help of three components: an argumentative component to generate arguments, a social component to interprete arguments, and a conventional component to manage the sequence of coherent moves. We formalize the notion of dialogue-game to address the gap between individual moves and the extended sequence of coherent moves that arise between agents. The moves are not associated with an intention, however the dialogues have a goal.

Defeasible Logic to Model n-person Argumentation Game

In multi-agent systems, an individual agent can pursue its own goals, which may conflict with those hold by other agents. To settle on a common goal for the group of agents, the argumentation/dialogue game provides a robust and flexible tool where an agent can send its explanation for its goal in order to convince other agents. In the setting that the number of agents is greater than two and th...

Historical Overview of Formal Argumen- tation

This chapter gives an overview of the history of formal argumentation in terms of a distinction between argumentation-based inference and argumentation-based dialogue. Systems for argumentationbased inference are about which conclusions can be drawn from a given body of possibly incomplete, inconsistent of uncertain information. They ultimately define a nonmonotonic notion of logical consequenc...

Is It Worth Arguing?

Argumentation-based negotiation (ABN) is an effective means of resolving conflicts in a multi-agent society. However, it consumes both time and computational resources for agents to generate, select and evaluate arguments. Furthermore, in many cases, argumentation is not the only means of resolving conflicts. Thus, some could be avoided either by finding an alternative means (evading the confli...

Arguing over Motivations within the V3A-Architecture for Self-Adaptation

The Vowel Agent Argumentation Architecture (V3A) is an abstract model by means of which an autonomous agent argues with itself to manage its motivations and arbitrate its possible internal conflicts. We propose an argumentation technique which specifies the internal dialectical process and a dialogue-game amongst internal components which can dynamically join/leave the game, thus having the pot...
